Black River is the capital of the parish St. Elizabeth on Jamaica's South Coast. Known as an environmental tourism gem, this port town, built on fishing and market life is one of Jamaica's oldest towns. Local media reports that nearly 90% of the town lost their roofs following the Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.
